Kamekichi Donburi is the name of the Imari ware-style donburi that was first made in 1867 by the famed potter of Mino ware, Kamekichi Tsukamoto. The potter, who was born in Dachi (Gifu Prefecture) at the end of the Edo period passed down the classic donburi form for over 150 years to the current owner and founder of MARUSHIN SEITO, who is the fifth generation descendent of Kamekichi. By combining the essence of Mino ware, which boasts a history of 1300 years, the potters at MARUSHIN SEITO had revived and created a modern classic. What used to be a luxurious bowl used only on ceremonial occasions such as wedding, is given a fresh coat of glaze and served as a modern everyday vessel.
