Every one of TOURAI’s IWATEMO porcelain pieces is formed by hand on a potter's wheel that exudes a gentle texture particular to handmade ceramics. The Amakusa porcelain clay, which originates from Kyushu is fired with a natural wood ash from Iwate timber as a glaze. The porcelain is fired one and a half times longer than usual, for about 25 hours. The arduous process results in a gloss and durability that expresses the mark of Iwate’s craftsmanship. This particular Iwatemo Bottle and Cup set, ideal as a carafe for water or sake, is designed in collaboration with Finnish designer Harri Koskinen.
