Kamiyama Magewappa Tray

$56.00

Magewappa is a traditional technique of steam bending wood commonly found in the  production of Bento (lunchbox) in Japan. Known also for its elegant straight grain, this  Kamiyama Magewappa Tray is made in the most traditional way, using only natural  Japanese materials and no synthetic adhesives or paints. Although Magewappa itself has a  history of over 1000 years, very few workshops still produce wood working this way. Based in  Kamiyama in Tokushima Prefecture, STUDIO KURARA strives to preserve the most traditional  and sustainable way of wood working that will connect our daily living to that of the past.
