Product Type

Buddhist statues and architectural techniques came from the Chinese continent about 1400 years ago. The technology has progressed in Takaoka after passing through Nara and Kyoto. Above all, Raden (Aogai lacquerware) which uses a unique technique of Takaoka, has supported the producing area. From classic patterns such as Kacho Fugetsu to modern patterns, items are tailored to match the times. In 1925, founder Jisaburo, started production of lacquerware at the Shibata Laquer Ware shop as a sculpture coating workshop. At that time, he mainly made household items such as tea cabinets, chests of drawers, partitions, and braziers, but gradually moved to tableware such as vessels. The engraving lacquer is a popular product that gives off its taste as one uses it, and was also a popular product for export.
