TAKIZAWA VENEER is a long-established plywood manufacturer based in Hokkaido. Since its founding in 1936, the company has been producing plywood manually with wood grown in the region. In 2009, Takizawa Venner developed a new type of material called Paper-Wood by laminating coloured recycled paper in between each veneer layer - resulting in a beautifully layered cross section that conventional plywood does not possess. The collection of Animal Puzzles- Ezorisu (Ezo Squirrel) are wooden toys inspired by the materiality of the Paper Wood and animals found in Hokkaido.
