After graduating from Shizuoka Design College, Tomomi Moose apprenticed under Shizuoka City traditional craftsman Masao Kishimoto and Maki Kishimoto. Armed with just the a woodworking potter's wheel and a lathe, the wood turner embarked on his journey to be one of Japanese finest craftsman. With the dwindling in the numbers of wood turners in Japan, Tomomi seeks to explore the possibilities of wood turning via his workshop HIKIMONOJO639. The Hikimonojo Cakestand is one such exploration. Made using Japanese-grown Hinioki (cypress), the idea behind the cakestand is to depict the silhouette of a conifer via traditional turning process.
