The design on these furoshiki are inspired by the Edo period in Japan history. Hand-dyed on cotton (dyed yukata), this item is regarded more as an Edo souvenir suitable for everyday use. The first generation who invented dyed yukata was founded in the late Edo, Tempo year (1842).
Utilizing the unique technology of Edo dyed yukata, the name of the world changed from yukata to Edo Komon. Chikusen Co Ltd inherited the technology and color from the first generation. Officially founded in1956, Chikusen Co Ltd’s craft has attracted the minds and views of famous departmental stores and luxury kimono specialty brands and stores.
