Singapore Icons
"An icon is symbolic.
It can represent a set of beliefs, or values.
It speaks of a particular time and place, a people and their culture."
The Singapore Icons Studio Project is initiated by Supermama to create a collection of porcelain ware with Japanese porcelain company KIHARA INC.
The Project’s key design intent is to explore the possibility of identifying new Singapore icons.
5 designers and design studios were invited to participate in this Project.
Their exploration of what these new Singapore icons can be formed part of Supermama's first collection of porcelain ware.
This inaugural collection of “Singapore Icons” by Supermama was honoured to be accorded the President’s Design Award, Singapore.
