Sound of Ramie - 5m Long Textile

The design seeks to revive ramie, a fibre that was once cultivated across Indonesia but now overshadowed by cheaper imports. Lana Daya works with artisans who are familiar with this material – hands that hold memory and lineage. Each thread bears the question: what if the future of Indonesian  textiles isn’t something new, but something which has been forgotten? Not a material to invent, but one to return to.
