The beaded Nyonya porcelain collection is birthed from an unlikely marriage of Peranakan beadwork and Japanese overglazed techniques.
At the heart of this collection lies the spirit of intricate craftsmanship. Nyonya beadwork, often recognised by its delicate, hand-stitched beads, is a time-honoured practice passed down through generations.
Each bead is carefully sewn, one by one, a process that demands both patience and precision. In this reinterpretation, a familiar flower bouquet motif, often seen in traditional beadwork, is translated bead-for-colour onto the smooth surface of white porcelain.
The result is a delicate, layered expression of heritage. A blend of tactile texture and refined artistry. This is more than just an object, it is a piece that celebrates the quiet beauty of cross-cultural dialogue where material, technique and meaning come together across borders and traditions.
